Praia de Carvalhal (Odemira)

Praia de Alteirinhos is in the municipality of Odemira, district of Beja, in the Alentejo region. Coastal beach with water quality rated Excellent by APA in 2025.

Zambujeira do Mar is one of the hidden gems of the Alentejo coast — a small beach set between tall black and green cliffs, reached by a pedestrian path between the village and the sand. The famous NOS Alive music festival takes place nearby, but for the rest of the year the beach keeps an almost absolute calm. Its intensely blue water and the dramatic cliffs make it one of the most photographed places in Portugal.

Praia de Odeceixe sits where the River Seixe meets the Atlantic, on the natural boundary between the Algarve and the Alentejo, within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The lagoon formed at the river mouth offers calmer water much loved by families with children, while the Atlantic side draws surfers. The picturesque village of Odeceixe is just two kilometres away, rounding out the experience of this unique rural area.

Praia de Odeceixe Mar is the Atlantic-facing stretch of Odeceixe beach, different from the lagoon side where the River Seixe meets the sea. Open ocean waves create interesting surf conditions, while the wild landscape of the Vicentine Coast unfolds in all its grandeur. The boundary between the Algarve and the Alentejo crosses right through this beach, making it geographically singular.
