About the Beach

Praia do Seixal, on Madeira's north coast, is famous for the waterfall that falls directly onto the road and sometimes onto bathers — a sight you find nowhere else in Portugal. The black basalt sand and the cool, crystal-clear water of the north coast create an atmosphere completely different from the south-coast beaches. The setting of green mountains and black cliffs gives this beach a dramatic, wild beauty.
