About the Beach
Praia do Cabedelo sits at the mouth of the River Lima, reached by ferry from the centre of Viana do Castelo, with a long sand strip between the ocean and the lagoon. The sixteenth-century Santiago da Barra fort dominates the entrance to the port and is a historical symbol of Viana. The diversity of settings — open sea, lagoon and dunes — and the good water quality make it the city's flagship beach.
