About the Beach
Praia Fluvial dos Olhos d'Água do Alviela is in Alcanena, district of Santarém, by the source of the river Alviela and inside the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Nature Park. It holds the Blue Flag for 2026, its second consecutive year, and received the Accessible Beach award for the first time.
According to Alcanena town council, the 2026 bathing season runs from 27 June to 31 August, with a lifeguard on duty from 10am to 7pm; outside that period there is no supervision. The car park holds 164 cars and 5 coaches, and parking outside it is not allowed. There are toilets, showers, drinking water points, a playground, a picnic area and street food during the bathing season, plus the Alviela Ciência Viva science centre in the same complex. Fires are not allowed anywhere in the complex, and glass containers are prohibited.
