Praia do Portinho da Areia Norte, in Peniche, is known as Portugal's first official dog-friendly beach, with a marked area where dogs are welcome all year round. It is a sheltered coastal beach next to the town of Peniche. It is not part of the APA bathing-water register, so it has no official water-quality rating.

Praia Fluvial dos Olhos d'Água do Alviela is in Alcanena, district of Santarém, by the source of the river Alviela and inside the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Nature Park. It holds the Blue Flag for 2026, its second consecutive year, and received the Accessible Beach award for the first time. According to Alcanena town council, the 2026 bathing season runs from 27 June to 31 August, with a lifeguard on duty from 10am to 7pm; outside that period there is no supervision. The car park holds 164 cars and 5 coaches, and parking outside it is not allowed. There are toilets, showers, drinking water points, a playground, a picnic area and street food during the bathing season, plus the Alviela Ciência Viva science centre in the same complex. Fires are not allowed anywhere in the complex, and glass containers are prohibited.

Praia Fluvial da Aldeia do Mato sits on the Castelo de Bode reservoir on the River Zêzere, one of the longest and most beautiful reservoirs in Portugal, with inlets and arms that create high-quality river beaches. Praia Fluvial da Bairrada/Bairradinha sits on the Castelo do Bode reservoir, in the municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere, where the river Zêzere carves out a landscape of great natural beauty. Surrounded by green, quiet countryside, it stands out for its sandy shore, uncommon among the river beaches of the Castelo do Bode reservoir. Recently upgraded, it offers parking, improved access, facilities for water sports and food service, as well as a boardwalk and renovated outdoor areas. It is supervised during the bathing season. Praia Fluvial de Alvega sits on the banks of the River Tagus, next to the village of Alvega, in an area of streams and agricultural fields in the Beira Baixa region. The Tagus water on this stretch is relatively calm and the rural setting is very peaceful, making it an option for visitors looking for nature and the river without crowds. The riparian landscape of poplars and willows is characteristic of the rivers of the Portuguese interior.

Praia Fluvial de Castelo de Bode sits on the reservoir of the same name on the River Zêzere, one of the largest in Portugal, supplying drinking water to the Lisbon metropolitan area. The warm, calm water of the reservoir, surrounded by hills and pine woods, creates excellent conditions for water sports like jet ski, wakeboard and sailing. The area is very popular with Tomar and Lisbon residents during the summer.

Praia Fluvial de Constância sits at the confluence of the rivers Tagus and Zêzere, in a Renaissance town that was once home to Luís de Camões. The meeting of the two rivers creates an area of natural beaches of great beauty, with the white houses of the town as a backdrop. The historic connection to the poet of the Lusiads and the preserved sixteenth-century architecture make Constância one of the most culturally rich river destinations in Portugal.

Dornes sits on the Castelo do Bode reservoir, next to the village of the same name, a near-island on a peninsula surrounded by water and crowned by a medieval Templar tower. On 19 August 2026 the municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere told us that this spot is not a river beach: it has no support facilities and no lifeguard. It is not part of the APA bathing water register, so it has no official water quality rating and no bathing season set by decree. The two classified bathing waters in the municipality are Bairrada/Bairradinha and Castanheira, also known as Lago Azul.

Praia Fluvial de Mouriscas sits on the banks of the River Tagus, next to the village of Mouriscas, with calm water and a riverside setting of great beauty. The Tagus banks on this stretch of the Ribatejo have lush willow and poplar vegetation that creates shade and freshness. The beach is very busy with Abrantes-area residents during the summer.

Praia Fluvial de Tomar sits on the banks of the River Nabão, which runs through the historic centre of this Templar city. Proximity to the Convent of Christ of the Templars, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, gives this river bathing destination a unique historical dimension in Portugal. Praia Fluvial do Agroal is a river beach of great beauty, on a reservoir surrounded by limestone, where the water has a characteristic emerald-blue shade typical of areas with dissolved calcite. The rarity of this water colour makes it one of the most photographed river destinations in Portugal.
