About the Beach
Praia do Guincho is one of the wildest and most dramatic beaches on the Portuguese Atlantic coast, within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and battered by strong winds that attract windsurfers and kitesurfers from all over the world. Long dunes, the Sintra hills in the background and relative isolation create scenery of primitive, powerful beauty. The famous Hotel do Guincho, converted from an old fortress, is a cultural landmark in the area.
