Praia de Furadouro is the main beach of the Ovar municipality, with a long stretch of fine sand and solid amenities. The surrounding area is known for the production of ovos moles de Aveiro — the region's traditional sweet — and for the Carnival of Ovar, one of the liveliest in the country. The beach has been the subject of coastal-defence works to combat erosion.
